Job Summary:
The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development, Academic Initiatives, leads a high-performance team to secure high-level philanthropic investment for TCU’s people and programs – through effective planning, implementation and evaluation of donor-specific strategies. This includes ensuring that the Academic major and principal gift program are well-positioned for university-wide benefit and service. The Assistant Vice Chancellor leads by example, managing a personal portfolio of high-level prospective donors. The Assistant Vice Chancellor serves as a key member of the Development Management Team and actively participates in strategic planning initiatives at a leadership level.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Ensures that all academic major and principal gift fundraising strategies have clear objectives, measurable outcomes, aspirational work plans and performance metrics, and are consistent with the university’s strategic plan, campaign goals and priorities.
2. Recruits, trains, mentors and retains a highly effective team that supports division-wide and university efforts.
3. Fosters an environment of collaboration, cooperation and excellence, including establishing equitable and consistent metrics for team accountability.
4. Partners with academic leaders and development officers in monitoring fundraising activity and progress toward goals.
5. Supports strategic resource allocation by developing budgets and coordinating expenditures to support key development staff and programs.
6. Manages a personal portfolio of high-level prospective donors to engage, cultivate, solicit and steward.
7. Participates in various leadership strategic planning efforts including but not limited to, budget development, goal-setting, and outcome analysis.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree.
• 10 years of successful experience in fundraising and fundraising management, or a similar field
• Proven track record of building and managing a successful team.
Preferred Education & Experience:
· Graduate degree in business or related field of study.
· Experience in fundraising and fundraising management in a university setting.
· Experience in higher education development.
· Experience leading volunteer groups.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
· Valid Texas Driver’s License.
· Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
· Experience utilizing complex centralized CRM system to meet fundraising goals.
· CFRE certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
· Knowledge of development/fundraising concepts and appropriate solicitation techniques, preferably in a complex academic setting.
· Knowledge of communications, presentation and interpersonal relationship techniques.
· Skill in problem solving, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking.
· Skill in developing a collaborative and inspiring team approach that is supported by data-centered rigor and a strong emphasis on accountability.
· Ability to travel frequently.
· Ability to work as a team-oriented strategist.
· Ability to achieve success within a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
· Ability to build productive, long-term relationships with senior university leaders, faculty, staff, volunteer groups and high-level donors.
· Ability to prepare complex and detailed proposals and related materials.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information.
· Ability to use technology (e.g. PC, iPhone, iPad/laptop, videoconferencing technology, Microsoft Office suite, customized CRM system, and Ovrture/Advizor, etc.) as needed to achieve goals.
· Ability to travel and attend evening and weekend programs and activities as required.

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
