About The Position:
Expected to begin Fall 2026, this tenure-track position will have a strong focus in our Music Technology Program as we construct a brand-new state-of-the-art recording studio to expand the production courses in our Music Arts Management degree program. The Music Arts Management degree has been enrolling students since 2020, and we seek a colleague to help us grow it into a vibrant program which will prepare our students for success in the music industry. We seek an experienced professional with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and curriculum design. The successful applicant will also possess superior interpersonal skills, be an expert communicator, and a role model for students. The successful candidate may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format. The Music Department is a small but highly visible and active department who strive to create a supportive artistic environment. This position will play a crucial role by ensuring development of curriculum and coursework to create musicians for the future! We are part of the School of Arts & Sciences which provides excellence in learning opportunities for all students at SUNY Plattsburgh through a core liberal arts education. We train students who can think critically, have mastered their discipline, can communicate effectively and are broadly educated. Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in a related field (e.g., Recording Industry, Audio Production, Music Technology)
  • One (1) year minimum of professional experience in sound engineering or audio production
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering commercial recordings and proficiency in related audio disciplines
  • Must possess knowledge of Digital Audio Workstations and be fluent in techniques such as sequencing, score writing, audio recording, mixing, and mastering
  • Applicants must have a commitment to working in a rich, diverse educational environment.
  • Ability to teach courses in music business, production, college-wide core curriculum and music history in area of expertise as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree and/or relevant professional experience
  • Four (4) years minimum of full time professional experience in the recording industry and strong industry connections
  • A demonstrated record of excellence in commercial-music performance, production, and/or composition
  • Experience in music marketing, publishing, and networking
  • College-level teaching experience, particularly in Music Technology or Music Business
  • Curriculum development skills
Salary (Applicant View)
$60,000 minimum, plus excellent benefits
