| About the Institution | Indiana State University is a Tier 2 national University with a Carnegie classification of doctoral/research. | Job Summary/Basic Function | The School of Criminology and Security Studies (SCSS) at Indiana State University welcomes applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor in its Intelligence Studies program. The position will begin August 1, 2026. |
| Specific Responsibilities | The successful candidate will principally teach courses related to intelligence operations (e.g. Intelligence Analysis, Geospatial Intelligence, Military Intelligence, Tactical Intelligence, Crime Analysis, Law Enforcement Intelligence, Drug Enforcement Intelligence, etc.). Courses offered will include both on-campus and online formats, and will be at the undergraduate as well as graduate level. The successful candidate will eventually have an opportunity to develop new courses based on their areas of specialty. The typical teaching load for faculty members who remain productive scholars is 3 courses per semester. Summer teaching opportunities are also possible for those who are interested. The successful candidate will also be required to provide evidence of an active or developing research agenda. Professional experience in a culturally diverse environment is also desirable. |
| Required Relevant Education & Experience | Candidates are required to have a doctorate in Intelligence Studies, National Security, Political Science, Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related fields. An ideal candidate would have a demonstrated research agenda in intelligence studies or a closely related field (e.g. national security, homeland security, etc.), and experience working in the field of intelligence. ABDs with firm completion date prior to August 1, 2026 will be considered. A juris doctorate degree is not sufficient. |
