ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Physics consists of 23 tenured and tenure-track faculty members. A particularly exciting recent program in the Department is its PhD program with emphasis on quantum science. The Department also contributes to interdisciplinary programs across the university such as the Bioinformatics and Computational Science graduate programs in the College of Science, and Biomedical Engineering graduate program in the College of Engineering. Job Description:
The Department of Physics at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in experimental biophysics. Research areas include but are not limited to Medical Physics, Molecular and Structural Biophysics, Imaging and Biophysical Methods, Cellular Biophysics, Quantum Biology, etc. Applicants in all areas of experimental studies of biological systems with quantitative physical approaches are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates are expected to develop productive research programs, mentor and teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and to direct Ph.D. dissertations. Anticipated start date is fall 2026.
Requirements:
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in Physics or related fields and have demonstrated long-term focus to physics research, possess postdoctoral experience, have a strong record of research accomplishments, and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must be able to teach at both undergraduate and graduate levels, perform service to the Department, College and University, and engage in outreach activities. The new hires will be core members of faculty of the Physics Graduate Program and instrumental in expanding team-based research in the Department of Physics. The university has committed to support these positions with generous start-up funds.
