Job Overview
The Office of the President operates in a fast-paced, high-energy environment where staff are expected to exercise a high level of responsibility, sound judgment, and discretion. This role requires flexibility, including the ability to work irregular or extended hours as needed.
The ideal candidate is an experienced event planning professional who is highly organized, adaptable, and self-motivated. A collaborative team player, this individual will contribute meaningfully to the planning and execution of key university events. The role involves daily interaction with members of the Georgetown community, Office of the President staff, and a wide range of university departments and external partners.
As a member of the Events Team, the Assistant Director of Presidential Events is responsible for the planning, execution, and follow-up of special events and programs that support University constituents. Additional responsibilities include conducting research; providing programming and logistical support for events; developing invitations and coordinating printed materials; and maintaining event calendars.
The Presidential Events Team supports a broad portfolio of responsibilities, including event management, communications, analysis, and administrative operations within the Office of the President.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
This position reports to the Director of Presidential Events. The Assistant Director of Presidential Events serves as a key member of the Office of the President and engages regularly with the Georgetown community—including students, faculty, and alumni, as well as with university offices and programs, external partners, the general public, and distinguished guests.

Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in event planning, fundraising, or a related field
Demonstrated knowledge of event management principles and best practices
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Proficiency in Canva
Strong research and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while exercising diplomacy, integrity, and sound judgment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in materials preparation, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and reliability
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Creative and innovative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$47,586.00 - $87,558.13Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
