Oversees pre-award administration and financials for sponsored research projects. Manages accounts and budgets, ensuring compliance. Acts as liaison between internal and external stakeholders and funding agencies. Directs pre-award administrative and financial operations related to grants and contracts for sponsored research projects; reviews and advises on contracts, agreements, and proposals. Researches and communicates proposal information; identifies pre-award needs and develops methods to meet needs.

Supervises staff, which includes hiring, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration; manages work schedules and approves timecards; provides professional development opportunities; distributes and reviews work. Prepares budgets and advises on budget development; manages related financial reporting. Serves as liaison between internal and external stakeholders including funding agencies; answers inquiries and responds to requests in award negotiations. Interprets and communicates all guidelines; establishes and ensures compliance with policies and procedures. Manages databases and systems; analyzes information and prepares complex reports. Assists with new initiatives and special projects as needed.

Excellent analytical and communications skills as well as multi-tasking throughout the workday.


Physical Effort 

Position is generally sedentary, but sometimes physically uncomfortable; frequently requires maintaining a sitting posture, stooping, or bending, some very light lifting, such as one or two reams of paper, may be required. Also walking around campus and the Oakland area.
