This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening.

Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered.
NPs are directed to apply to job # 275570 and PAs are directed to apply to job # 275571.

A total of one (1), 1.0 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.

The primary role is in the care of melanoma patients. The APP will also provide care to patients with sarcoma and breast cancer.
Requires highly specialized skills and autonomy in this role.
Independent review and interpretation of surgical pathology reports and imaging, order entry, conducting physical exams, surgical wound care, obtaining skin biopsies and presenting patients at tumor board.
Delivery of results of pathology and scans to patients and their families. This includes education, care coordination, collaboration with other services and emotional support. 
Will perform intratumoral injections (TVEC) for patients with unresectable lesions.
Postoperative management includes removing skin graft bolsters, debriding surgical wounds, aspirating seromas, and completing other office-based procedures for wound complications. 
Provision of care from surgery into the disease surveillance phase. 
Assist with referral triage to ensure urgent cases are scheduled appropriately.

Roles and responsibilities may be periodically adjusted as determined by the needs of the Cancer Center Clinical Program.
 
 

NP: 
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
Current specialty certification to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan Certification as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care NP, Adult NP or FNP
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) 
Current DEA registration required.
BLS (American Heart Association-AHA) required.
APP experience in the care of patients with melanoma
APP experience in the care of surgical oncology patients 
 

PA: 
Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required  
Current DEA registration required.
BLS (American Heart Association-AHA) required.
APP experience in the care of patients with melanoma
APP experience in the care of surgical oncology patients

Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift: Day shift
Location: Rogel Cancer Center- Gold Team primary with assignment to other teams if needed
 

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Physician Assistants of Michigan Medicine, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
