Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of Professional and Continuing Education and in collaboration with the Student Advisor Lead, the purpose of this position is to counsel applicants, provide accurate information on admissions policies and procedures and review applications.

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean of Professional and Continuing Education and in collaboration with the Student Advisor Lead, the purpose of this position is to counsel applicants, provide accurate information on admissions policies and procedures and review applications. More specifically, the position will review and support applicants for self-supported degree programs and will assist in the review of applications, appeals, and supporting documents relevant to admissions decisions. The position requires attendance and planning of recruitment events and serving as a liaison for students with Admissions and the Registrar's office.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Required Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned, general knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management. General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multisexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts; and, rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned. Demonstrated ability to make decisions and carry through actions having implications with regard to other program or service areas Services Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the analysis and application of academic regulations and procedures related to admissions.
Experience involving detailed work, including mathematical computations with a high degree of accuracy.
Familiarity with online resources (i.e., College Source, AACRAO, and Assist) and the Common Management System (CMS) or other student administration data systems.
Experience working in a high-production environment.
Ability to fully understand CSU requirements, possess the ability to meet goals in a timely manner, works well under pressure, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty and student organizations.
Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, staff, and others regarding admission requirements, policies, and procedures and promote a 'student-friendly service' image of Enrollment Management.
Demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex units, department, and campus policies and procedures.
Equivalent to one year of experience related to academic records evaluation
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors.
The anticipated hiring range for this position will be set up to $5,083 per month.
CSU Classification Range: minimum $5,083 - maximum $7,228 monthly.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends.
Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.

Conditions of Employment
Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Drivers License Check
Possession of a valid Driver's License is required. Employees in this position will be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Government Employer Pull Notice Program which confirms possession of a valid driver's license and reflects driving record.
Mandated Reporter
The person holding this position is considered a `mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
