East Stroudsburg University’s Department
of Chemistry and Biochemistry is looking for Adjunct Instructors to teach laboratories in
general and organic chemistry and non-majors courses. Located
in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York
City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and
social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water
parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other
opportunities for recreational fun.
Responsibilities include teaching
college chemistry and biochemistry general education courses and
laboratories. ESU's Chemistry and Biochemistry Department offers undergraduate programs of study that lead to Bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry, Biochemistry
and Chemical Biotechnology. The program offers a comprehensive foundation
of courses and an opportunity for students to select elective courses within
specific areas of Chemistry and
Biochemistry to prepare
students to excel in careers in
industry, professional medical areas, or graduate programs.
The ESU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry programs
are accredited by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the American Society
for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB). The department is housed in the Hoeffner Science and Technology center
populating 13 dedicated teaching and research laboratories and a cold room, in
addition to modern faculty offices. The
department maintains an impressive suite of instrumentation highlighted by a
Bruker 400Mhz NMR, Agilent LC/Q-TOF Mass Spec, GC/MS, GC, Eclipse Fluorescence
Spec and HPLC. A Perkin Elmer AAS,
NexION ICP-MS, Thermo Nicolet FTIR and a Kodak gel imaging system complement a host of other instrumentation including several UV/Vis Specs and centrifuges.

Qualifications
- Successful candidates will possess a minimum of a master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or closely related area. Previous teaching experience is preferred.
