Offer Description

The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. We perform cutting-edge research in the fields of future technologies, energy and climate, health innovation and fundamentals of nature. By performing fundamental and applied research, we work on sustainable solutions for major challenges facing society, science and economy. PSI is committed to the training of future generations. Therefore, about one quarter of our staff are post-docs, post-graduates or apprentices. Altogether, PSI employs 2300 people.

For the Nanodiffraction Group in the Multiscale Bioimaging Laboratory LMB, we are looking for a

Postdoctoral Fellow in Biophysics

Your tasks

In this position, you will work at the interface of experimental biophysics, structural biology, artificial intelligence, and pharmaceutical formulation science. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Characterization of biologics (antibodies, proteins, siRNA) in the presence of excipients using SAXS and complementary biophysical techniques
  • Development and validation of a predictive pipeline for excipient–biologic interactions
  • Integration of experimental SAXS data with AI-driven structural modeling to predict oligomerization behavior and excipient effects
  • Close collaboration with the industrial partner Excelsus Structural Solutions to translate experimental workflows into formulation-related services
  • Participation in experimental planning, quality control, and iterative excipient screening
  • Presentation of scientific results at international conferences and contribution to peer-reviewed publications
  • Co-supervision and scientific support of PhD and master’s students
