At the department of chemical engineering, research is conducted with the common objective to develop sustainable separation processes. We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in a project focusing on crystallization of rare earth elements. The work is part of a European collaboration project with the objective to develop a process for recycling of permanent magnets. At KTH the work is focused on developing the understanding of crystallization processes under a magnetic field. Different innovative reactor designs will be developed for this purpose, including a millifluidic device. The work includes design and experimental studies of simple model systems as well as more applied studies. The applicant should have extensive experience in laboratory work and is expected to be able to work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues at KTH and other universities.

The project is financed by EIC Pathfinder Open. This is a full-time position for two years. The start date is open for discussion.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.

Preferred qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the application deadline
  • Expertise in chemical engineering and/or crystallization and precipitation.
  • Strong academic credentials and scientific proficiency documented in publications.
  • Curiosity, drive and ability to maintain a well-organized work environment.
  • Strong laboratory/instrumental skills·     
  • An analytical approach
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, for day-to-day work
  • Teaching abilities
  • Teamwork
  • Independence
  • Awareness of diversity and equal treatment issues with a particular focus on gender equality
