Lecturer in Computer Science, specialization in Data Science

 This position offers opportunities for pedagogical and professional development and involves collaboration with colleagues, students, and external partners. Since teaching is a central part of this role, we are seeking a candidate who genuinely enjoys teaching and mentoring students, and who wishes to combine high-quality education with applied academic work in a collaborative environment.

As a lecturer you will teach at undergraduate and master’s levels, primarily in data science, machine learning, and AI programming in Python, including lecturing, supervision of student projects, course development and examination.

Scholarly activities may include applied and methodological work in areas such as manufacturing, sports analytics, or other data-rich domains, contributing to trustworthy and practically relevant AI systems.

The lecturer is expected to contribute to scholarly activities through participation in collaborative projects and engagement with external partners, and to be active in the Department of Computing and Jönköping AI Lab.

The lecturer is expected to contribute to a constructive academic environment and the continuous development of education.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field.
• Applicants with degrees in related disciplines (e.g., physics, mathematics, engineering) are encouraged to apply, provided they demonstrate relevant experience in data science or machine learning.
• Strong pedagogical skills, or the potential to develop them, with a student-centered approach.
• Documented experience in data science, machine learning, or related fields (academia and/or industry)
• Experience with applied machine learning and data analysis
• Strong programming skills, preferably in Python, and experience with modern ML frameworks
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
• A completed PhD in a relevant area is considered a strong merit.
• Experience in research collaboration, proposal development, and engagement with external partners (e.g., industry or public sector) is a merit.
