Offer Description
Applications are invited for a full‑time research contract to support a project investigating eating behaviour and the neurocognitive mechanisms associated with sweet taste, using advanced neuroimaging methodologies.
Project title: “Sweet-taste blocking compounds to address eating behaviour: towards functional psychotherapeutic foods”
Funding: MICIU / AEI / 10.13039/501100011033 and FEDER, EU
Position Overview
- Applications are invited for a full-time research contract to support a competitive, externally funded project investigating eating behaviour and the neurocognitive mechanisms associated with sweet taste, with a particular focus on sweet-taste blocking compounds and their potential application in functional psychotherapeutic foods.
- The project employs advanced neuroimaging methodologies, primarily functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), combined with behavioural, cognitive, and affective measures. The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary research team working at the interface of psychology, neuroscience, and nutrition, within an internationally oriented research environment.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- The appointed candidate will undertake the following duties within the framework of the research project:
- Contribute to fMRI data acquisition, including sequence setup, scanner preparation, and quality control procedures.
- Conduct preprocessing and advanced statistical analysis of neuroimaging data.
- Implement, document, and maintain analysis scripts using Python and/or MATLAB.
- Integrate cognitive, affective, behavioural, and neuroimaging datasets to test hypotheses related to eating behaviour and gustatory processing.
- Contribute to the preparation of scientific manuscripts, figures, and dissemination of results in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate actively in research team meetings, assist with task coordination, and collaborate with national and international researchers.
Support the preparation of conference presentations, scientific reports, and potential competitive applications for the candidate (e.g., Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions or similar postdoctoral fellowships).
