Part-Time Lecturer for AP6412 Foundation for Technology and Coding

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) and College of Computing and Data Science (CCDS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-time Lecturer for AP6412 Foundation for Technology and Coding. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach a Postgraduate course commencing in August 2026.

AP6412 Foundation for Technology and Coding is a 13-week course where students will be introduced to the fundamental concepts of artistic ideation, creative thinking, visual development and motion principles.  Through exploration of a range of mediums and techniques, students will cultivate their artistic talent, focusing on foundational art skills, fostering creativity and originality, applied to the context of art and creativity for games. The skills learned in this course will enhance student’s capability as a game artist, an important component of game design and development.

Applicants should demonstrate expertise in guiding students through the foundational stages of coding and game creation, from concept ideation and mechanic design to basic implementation and prototyping. The role requires mentoring students in translating artistic ideas into simple interactive experiences, with emphasis on visual storytelling, motion principles, and creative experimentation. The successful candidate will support students in developing small-scale playable prototypes and presenting their work in a structured pitch format.

Successful candidates will have a relevant Master’s and/or PhD in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related field with a track record of creative practice in the gaming industry. Past teaching experience at the Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Game Design or a related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience (such as e.g., lead design/animation  or indie development) may also be considered in exceptional cases.
