Position Description
The Institute for Theoretical and Mathematical Physics (ITMP) of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) invites applications for senior researcher (professorial level) positions in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics starting in autumn 2026. The Institute for Theoretical and Mathematical Physics is a new division of the M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University founded in December 2018. The aim of the Institute is to advance high-level research and education in fundamental areas of theoretical and mathematical physics. At present the activity of the Institute is focused in the following areas: mathematical physics, quantum field theory, theoretical particle physics, conformal field theory and holography, string theory, gravity and cosmology. Applicants should have a PhD in theoretical or mathematical physics and a track record of active research at international level. Fluent English is a requirement.

In addition to research the duties of senior researchers include teaching at master and PhD level (around 2-3 semester lecture courses a year) as well as supervising research students.

The starting salary will be 310-320 thousand rubles per month (after tax) and its level may be negotiated depending on qualifications. Funding for research related expenses of 300 thousand roubles per year will also be available. The position is initially for 5 years with possible extension subject to performance and availability of funding. ITMP provides a relocation allowance, health insurance and administrative support.
