The National Institute of Research and Development for Electrochemistry and Condensed Matter - INCEMC Timişoara, is organizing a competition to fill the following positions: 

Within the Department of Condensed Matter – Timișoara:

a position of Scientific Researcher in Chemistry-CS code COR 211306, with a part-time individual employment contract (40 hours/month), until 31.12.2026, within the project PN-IV-P2-2.1-TE-2023-0175 (Contract no. 66TE / 2025), starting with 02.03.2026, the salary is provided in the mentioned research contract;

Candidates must be postdoctoral students.

Field - chemistry, specialization - biochemistry.

The position is provided for in the staff list of the project PN-IV-P2-2.1-TE-2023-0175 (Contract no. 66TE / 2025).

The position is in the field of Chemistry, specialization in biochemistry, requiring expertise in:

Medicine, Biochemistry / Neurochemistry or Biology / Neurobiology

General conditions of participation:

a) has Romanian citizenship and domicile in Romania;

b) knows Romanian, written and spoken;

c) has full capacity to exercise;

d) is medically fit to exercise the position;

e) meets the specific conditions* for holding the position;

*Specific conditions for holding the position

– Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in one of the specializations relevant to the research activity: Medicine (preferably Psychiatry, Neurology or Laboratory Medicine), Biochemistry / Neurochemistry or Biology / Neurobiology, Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry)

– experience in the field of study: minimum 5 years (in research, clinical laboratory, instrumental analysis, neuroscience, imaging or related disciplines);

– foreign languages: English – intermediate/advanced level (reading scientific articles, writing, presentation);

 

– skills, qualities and abilities required:

• PC operation (Microsoft Office package, databases, spectral analysis software);

• rigor and accuracy in working with biological samples;

• capacity for analysis and synthesis of scientific data;

• communication and teamwork skills within an interdisciplinary project (physics – chemistry – medicine).

 

– Relevant experience or courses in at least one of the following areas (advantage):

• mass spectrometry (MS);

• physicochemical analysis techniques and chromatography (TLC, HPTLC, LC-MS);

• biological sample analysis;

• neuroscience, psychiatry, neurochemistry;

• ethics and good practices in biomedical research.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES OF THE JOB

- fulfills the duties and tasks established within the research theme: Development of an innovative mass spectrometry method for the rapid diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia;

- carries out scientific documentation;

- carries out experimental determinations and physico-chemical analyses, collects experimental data;

- collects data for the drafting of scientific materials and papers in the field of activity;

- participates in the drafting of technical-scientific reports, scientific articles and dissemination materials;

- maintains and properly uses laboratory research equipment;

- performs permanent or occasional tasks, outside the research theme or contract on which he works, tasks that are distributed to him by his direct supervisor;

- drafts and interprets the material with the results of his own experiments or those of the working group;

- presents the results at scientific events in the country and abroad;

  • According to art. 10. of H.G. 1568/2024 - (1) In order to register for the competition for a vacant research position, the candidate submits a file, which must include the following documents:

     a) signed application for the competition, to which is attached a declaration on one's own responsibility by which the candidate attests to the veracity of the information presented in the file;

    b) proposal for the development of the scientific career from the point of view of scientific research activities, of a maximum of 5 pages;

    c) curriculum vitae signed by the candidate;

    d) list of scientific publications, works, articles/studies, patents selected by the candidate according to their relevance for their own scientific research activities;

    e) verification sheets of the fulfillment of the minimum standards and the own standards of the research organization, completed and signed by the candidate, as the case may be, except for the situation regulated in letter f);

    f) proof of holding the professional degree in research and development corresponding to the position for which they are applying, the verification form of meeting the research organization's own standards, as appropriate, completed and signed by the candidate, and the self-assessment form relating to the minimum standards in force at the time of the competition, completed and signed by the candidate, only for candidates who hold the professional degree in research and development of CS II or CS I corresponding to the position for which they are applying;

    g) copy of the bachelor's degree or equivalent/master's degree/doctorate, as appropriate. In the event that the candidate declared the winner does not hold a diploma issued by a higher education institution in Romania, he or she must submit a copy of the original of the certificate of recognition or equivalence thereof before being hired for the position and signing the individual employment contract, under penalty of not issuing the administrative act of hiring for the position;

    h) copy of the identity card or any other document that certifies the identity, according to the law, as the case may be;

    i) copy of the marriage certificate or proof of name change, as the case may be;

    j) medical certificate attesting to the state of health corresponding to the fulfillment of the job duties, issued by the candidate's family doctor or by the authorized health units, no later than 3 months prior to the competition;

    k) signed declaration of consent for the processing of personal data;

    l) criminal record certificate.

     

       (2) The candidate's curriculum vitae must include:

    a) studies completed and diplomas obtained;

    b) professional experience and relevant jobs previously held;

    c) research-development and innovation projects led as project director and grants obtained, if applicable, indicating for each funding source, the project budget and the main scientific publications or patents resulting;

    d) awards or other elements of recognition of scientific contribution;

    e) narrative description of the 3 most important achievements in the topic of the position for which the competition is organized - maximum 3 pages.

     

       (3) The application file must contain the list of scientific publications, works, articles/studies, patents considered by the candidate to be relevant to the field of the position for which he/she is applying. The list is structured as follows:

    a) list of no more than 10 scientific publications, the most relevant, such as: author's books, articles/studies/chapters, edited volumes, works;

    b) list of patents and other industrial property titles;

    c) list of author's books and edited and published volumes;

    d) list of articles/studies in extenso, published in journals from the main international scientific flow;

    e) list of other scientific works and contributions or, as the case may be, in the field of artistic creation or national defense.

    The competition files must be submitted within 30 days from the date of publication of the announcement, at the headquarters of INCEMC Timişoara, Str. Dr. Aurel Paunescu Podeanu no. 144, or to the email address: incemc@incemc.ro .

    The competition will be held in accordance with Law No. 183/2024 on the Statute of Research and Development Personnel, of H.G. No. 1,568 for the approval of the Methodological Norms regarding the organization of competitions for filling vacant positions of research, development and innovation personnel in research organizations and of the Competition Regulations for filling vacant positions and promotion in professional ranks within INCEMC Timișoara and consists of the evaluation of the scientific activity and research skills of the candidates through a written test and interview with the examination committee and will take place on 25.02.2026 at 11:00 at the headquarters of INCEMC Timisoara, Str. Dr. Aurel Paunescu Podeanu No.144.
