VICE-RECTOR in Charge of the School of Natural Sciences / for Finance and Research Projects at the Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań announces a competition for 2 positions of: 

Researcher Assistant

at the Center for Development of Gene Therapies TREAT-EXP 

in the project FENG.02.01-IP.05-M038/25, TREAT-EXP: Development of therapeutic strategies for human genetic diseases caused by nucleotide repeat expansions. 

The FENG.02.01-IP.05-M038/25 project is carried out within the 2.1 MAB FENG call 2/2025  programme of the Foundation for Polish Science co-financed by the European Union under the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021-2027 (FENG).

Research assistant position in the newly established Center for the Development of Gene Therapies at Adam Mickiewicz University in the research groups of Dr Rajani Kanth Gudipatti.  

We are seeking motivated individual to join my research group to study the functions of DPPIV family proteases using C. elegans as a model system. Our long-term goal is to understand how these proteases regulate fundamental biological processes and to explore their potential applicability in treating neurodegenerative diseases caused by the expansion of DNA repeats.

Anticipated job starting date: May 1st, 2026

Fixed-term contract for 12 months, with the possibility of extension to 42 months

Monthly salary: PLN 8 470 gross

Skills/Qualifications

The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:

  • Completed second-cycle (Master’s) degree in biotechnology, bioinformatics, biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Excellent academic record (high grade average and strong Master’s thesis performance).
  • Experience working with C. elegans is highly desired.
  • Practical experience in basic laboratory techniques and molecular biology methods, including:
    • Protein and nucleic acid isolation
    • PCR and RT-PCR
    • Western blotting
  • Experience with advanced molecular biology techniques (e.g., RNA-seq), advanced microscopy (e.g., confocal microscopy), and bioinformatics tools will be considered an advantage.
  • Strong motivation for scientific research, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively; demonstrated commitment, responsibility, and diligence.
  • Conducting original research leading to the preparation and defense of a doctoral dissertation.

    Selection process
  • Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
  • Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
  • Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
  • Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
  • Interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements.
  • The chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates. This information will include justification with a reference to candidates' strengths and weaknesses
