The competition is open to individuals who meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571,  Article 113 as amended) and who meet the following requirements:

 

  • a doctoral degree in sociology or in the discipline of sociological sciences, cognitive science, psychology, or anthropology; in the case of holding a doctoral degree in a discipline other than sociology or sociological sciences – a master’s and/or bachelor’s degree in sociology or sociological sciences is required;
  •  scientific achievements: publications, participation in academic conferences;
  • organizational achievements;
  •  papers delivered in Polish;
  •  experience in applying for and/or participating in research grants and/or scientific research projects;
  •  academic experience.

    Eligibility criteria
  • A doctoral degree in one of the following disciplines: sociology, sociological sciences, cognitive science, psychology, or anthropology. In the case of holding a doctoral degree in a discipline other than sociology or sociological sciences – a master’s and/or bachelor’s degree in sociology or sociological sciences is required.
  • Documented publication activity, including scientific articles in journals listed by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MNiSW) in the years 2020–2025, with at least three publications scoring no fewer than 40 points. An additional asset will be evidence of at least two single‑authored texts or texts with the candidate as the first (leading) author, including publications in English.
  • Documented experience in applying for research grants funded from external sources (e.g., NCN, Norwegian funds, EU funds, Horizon 2020), as well as leading or participating in research grants and/or scientific research projects.
  • Documented experience in conducting qualitative social research and qualitative analysis in the years 2015–2025.
  •  Documented active participation in conferences or in the organization/co‑organization of scientific conferences in the years 2015–2025.
  • Documented academic teaching experience, including at least 180 teaching hours in sociology courses, of which at least 60 hours must involve courses related to sociological theories, foundations of sociology, and qualitative data analysis.
  • A declaration of readiness to conduct lectures and other teaching activities in English in subjects offered within the sociology program.
  •  Documented professional development in teaching and/or research within the last five years.
  •  Fluent command of the Polish language, spoken and written.
  • Knowledge of one of the conference languages.

    Selection process
  • Competition committee begins working no later than 14 days after the deadline for submission of documents.
  • Formal evaluation of submitted proposals.
  • Call to provide additional or missing documents if necessary.
  • Selection of candidates for the interview stage.
  • Interviews for candidates who meet the formal requirements.
  • The committee has the right to request external reviews of candidates' work or to ask candidates to conduct teaching assignments with an opportunity for student evaluation. The chair of the competition committee announces the results and informs the candidates. This information will include justification with a reference to candidates' strengths and weaknesses. Submitted documents will be sent back to candidates.
