Associate Professor or Assistant Professor (tenure track) in Digital Methods in Construction

The European construction economy faces increasing challenges with respect to sustainability of solutions and digital transformation. The Faculty of Science, Technology, and Medicine (FSTM) is seeking to hire a candidate with an excellent international track record in Civil Engineering combined with digital competences who is open for interdisciplinary collaborations with both academic and industry partners.

The candidate will establish a research group in their area of expertise, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration within the department, across faculties, and with external partners to ensure practical impact. They will contribute to teaching at Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. levels, supervise Ph.D. candidates, and support doctoral/postdoctoral training. The role supports the Civil and Environmental Engineering area, active in structural and infrastructural research, and funded by national/international programmes and partnerships. Some members contribute to EUROCODE development.

The candidate will reinforce expertise in digital methods in construction, focused on project management. They are expected to:

(i) Conduct research in:

  • Construction informatics, BIM, data science, digital twins
  • AI applications, GIS integration, sensor networks, OpenBIM, Linked Data

(ii) Contribute teaching to the bachelor and master programmes of the department, e.g., in:

  • Construction and Project Management (Bachelor)
  • BIM (Bachelor)
  • Advanced Digital Methods in Construction (Master)

(iii) Set up and manage a research group, including Ph.D. supervision
(iv) Build collaborations with academic and industry partners
(v) Contribute to the DoE’s strategy, visibility, and impact
(vi) Represent the field in standards committees and associations
