* Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The position is financed by a JSPS Fund for the Promotion of Joint International Research grant, "Next Generation International Research Hub for Algorithms, Combinatorial Optimization and Discrete Mathematics" with project leader Professor Ken-ichi Kawarabayashi (NII). The appointee will be hired by Professor Shin-ichi Minato and supervised by Professor David Avis and Dr. Jesper Jansson at Kyoto University, Japan.

[Work content and job description]
The requirements are to:
(a) pursue theoretical research in discrete mathematics, algorithms, and/or combinatorial optimization;
(b) publish research papers in international conference proceedings and journals, as well as conduct presentations; and
(c) investigate implementation of the results followed by experimental verification and eventual distribution as open software.
As well as the search for new theoretical results, the project will encourage their implementation, especially by using parallel computing.

Wages description:The salary is 400,000 JPY per month (income tax as well as health insurance, pension, and welfare costs will be deducted from this amount).
