Offer Description

Over the past decade, significant research has been conducted on the mechanisms of light harvesting and energy dissipation to enhance the efficiency and broaden the applicability of algal biotechnology. However, manipulation of light-harvesting complex (LHC) gene products has been limited by the scarcity of knowledge regarding structure–function relationships. In this project, selected gene products will be characterized in detail. In particular, spectroscopic techniques will be applied to the study of purified LHCII protein variants, including state-of-the-art steady-state absorption/fluorescence spectroscopy and spectral deconvolution, transient absorption spectroscopy, and fluorescence lifetime spectroscopy. Structural modifications that give rise to specific spectroscopic features will be analyzed by (i) molecular modelling and (ii) direct structural analysis by cryo-EM.

For admission to the selection process referred to in Art. 1, potential candidates must fulfil the following requirements:
a) Master’s Degree Agri-food Biotechnology (LM-7) or Industrial Biotechnology (LM-8) [Laurea Magistrale o a ciclo unico awarded pursuant to Art. 3(1n), Ministerial Decree no. 270 of 22/10/04], obtained no more than six years before the expiry date of this call;
b) Possession of a curriculum suitable for assisting in carrying out research activities;
c) Knowledge of the following foreign language: English.
