Offer Description

The available position is in the Materials and Topologies for Sensors and Devices (MTSD) Unit of FBK-SD. The unit conducts R&D and service activities based on advanced spectroscopy and spectrometry techniques, focusing on several areas of advanced materials, such as silicon devices and wide-bandgap semiconductors, advanced coating and new polymers. These activities also support the development of advanced materials and devices, including quantum and optoelectronic technologies. The activities are carried out in collaboration with the other units of FBK-SD. MTSD is active on several projects focused on nano technologies, material development and advancement of characterization methodologies

Background information and description of research projects

This position is offered within the IPCEI ME/CT project. In the IPCEI ME/CT project, FBK intends to significantly expand and improve its manufacturing
and integration facilities to achieve high-level and reliable heterogeneous production capabilities to maximize research and competitiveness in the market. Exploiting the results of IPCEI ME, the project will mainly work on the integration of new materials (Silicon Carbide & Germanium-on-Silicon) and heterointegration to extend the capabilities of already established silicon platforms.

Job Description

The selected researcher will be responsible for advanced analytical characterization activities supporting the development of novel materials and devices. In particular, the researcher will contribute to the development of innovative materials, with a focus on synthesis and characterization.
The position requires the ability to set up new research activities and coordinate other researchers. Moreover, the researcher is expected to make a direct and significant contribution to writing project proposals and to expanding FBK-SD’s international collaborations.
Close collaboration with other units within the centre is expected, both in terms of service and research support. The candidate is also expected to have prior experience in the above-mentioned activities.

The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team and be engaged in dissemination, networking and project writing tasks.

Key responsibilities include:
● Development and implementation of advanced material synthesis and characterization methodologies;
● Contribution to the development of semiconductor and polymer-based materials;
