Commitment & contract: Full-time internship within the Erasmus+ Traineeship programme for undergraduate students enrolled in a master’s degree programme; the position requires a time commitment of 40 hours/week (full time)

Location: Center for Convergent Technologies, Genoa, Italy

Duration: 3 or 6 months (flexible)

Start date: 15/09/2026 (flexible)

Compensation: No salary granted by IIT (applicants must rely on funding from their University’s Erasmus+ programme)

THE ROLE

During your internship you will work on a projectin the Electron Spectroscopy and Nanoscopy (https://el-spy.iit.it/ ) group, coordinated by Giorgio Divitini. This group focuses on Electron microscopy of nanomaterials.

Your activity will comprise

• Transmission and scanning electron microscopy
• Code development for data analysis (incl. unsupervised ML)
• Data acquisition on electron microscopes

And will allow you to develop competences in

• Nanomaterials for optoelectronics and energy applications
• Scientific coding for data analysis, ML
• Electronic properties at nanoscale, nanochemistry

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• To be registered as a student in an undergraduate master’s degree programme in Physics, Materials science or a cognate fieldofstudy for the entire duration of your stay at IIT
• To have a good command of spoken and written English
• To rely on funding from your University’s Erasmus+ programme
