Offer Description

The post-doctoral position will be dedicated to the conceptual design, development, and experimental characterization of PHPs, including the definition of geometries, selection of working fluids and materials, design of experimental test rigs, and measurement of thermal performance, both under normal gravity and, where applicable, in microgravity environments. Particular attention will be devoted to start-up behavior, thermal resistance, operational limits, and the experimental validation of innovative PHP concepts.

Eligibility criteria

The public call with detailed attendance and selection rules (Art 4 and 8) can be found at: http://www-assegni.unipv.it/incarichi-post-doc/
The selections are open to candidates, Italian or foreigner, in possession, on the date of the deadline for submitting applications for the admission to the selection, of a research doctorate (PhD) or equivalent qualification obtained abroad, or, for the sectors concerned, a medical specialization qualification. The educational qualification has to concern the research theme.

Further specific assessable qualifications (see Art. 1 par. 1 Call for applications):
The position requires a candidate with adequate scientific maturity, strong motivation, and the ability to integrate theoretical training with experimental and numerical applications, with particular emphasis on heat transfer, thermo-fluid dynamics, and heat pipe technologies, especially Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHPs). The ideal candidate should demonstrate experience in research and design activities in the field of heat transfer in high-efficiency passive systems, gained in both national and international contexts, and show a clear aptitude for innovation, teamwork, and the analysis of complex multiphase and transient phenomena.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in research and development groups and multidisciplinary projects, as well as Master’s or PhD thesis work strongly oriented toward experimental research and numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes (boiling, condensation, pulsating flows), including
applications in the space sector. The profile is completed by solid computational and numerical simulation skills, together with organizational and communication abilities, possibly acquired through tutoring activities and teaching support.
