Thrive: Trinity College Dublin's Strategic Plan 2025 - 2030The Postdoctoral Researcher will play a key role in the SEAI-funded CIRCUIT project (Causal Inference for Resilient Cities and Urban Integrated Transport) at Trinity College Dublin. The project develops an integrated modelling framework combining causal machine learning, transport behaviour analysis, and residential energy demand modelling to support sustainable urban and energy policy.
The researcher will contribute to the design, implementation, and validation of causal inference models, working closely with the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigator, PhD student(s), and external stakeholders. The role includes methodological development, empirical analysis using Irish and international datasets, and the production of high-quality academic and policy outputs.
Standard Duties and Responsibilities of the Post
• Lead and contribute to the development of causal inference and machine learning models linking transport, energy, and environmental outcomes
• Conduct advanced econometric and statistical analyses of large behavioural and spatial datasets
• Support the integration of causal models within agent-based and simulation frameworks
• Prepare peer-reviewed journal articles, technical reports, and policy briefs
• Assist in stakeholder engagement activities, workshops, and dissemination events
• Contribute to project management, reporting, and delivery of SEAI milestones
• Collaborate with national and international academic and policy partners
