The role

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Associate in Financial Technology with Data Science to join our academic community. You will contribute to delivering high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, support student learning, and play an active role in the wider academic life of the School. This role is ideal for someone passionate about teaching, student engagement and supporting the development of future FinTech professionals.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will:

  • Teach at undergraduate and master’s level, including lectures, seminars, tutorials and computer lab sessions.
  • Act as a personal tutor, providing academic and pastoral support to students.
  • Supervise undergraduate and master’s dissertations in Financial Technology.
  • Mark exams and coursework and contribute to assessment design.
  • Support curriculum development and enhancement to align with School and programme ambitions.
  • Contribute to programme administration, including supporting or leading units, admissions, programme delivery and engagement with external examiners.
  • Participate in School and Faculty meetings, governance and related academic activities.
  • Maintain a proactive approach to your own professional development and scholarship.

You should apply if

You are someone who:

  • Has experience teaching effectively at undergraduate or master’s level in a relevant subject area.
  • Engages proactively with students and takes initiative to enhance learning.
  • Has strong organisational, administrative and interpersonal skills.
  • Has experience supervising UG or MSc dissertations.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively and adapts well to changing circumstances.
  • Is comfortable using digital learning tools and platforms such as Python, VS Code and Tableau.
  • Holds, or will soon complete a doctorate in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or a closely related discipline.

Desirable qualities include experience in leading modules or programmes, digital or blended learning experience, links with accreditation bodies and a recognised HE teaching qualification.
