Research Associate (two posts)

Duties 

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Advanced manufacturing of nanomaterials using an AI-enhanced automated microfluidic system”. They will be required to:

(a)    possess proficiency in AI programming and be capable of developing AI programs; 

(b)    fabricate polymeric nanomaterials, hetero-nanostructures and microfluidic devices;

(c)    make use of material and device characterization equipments such as EDX, XRD, TEM, spectrum meter, etc. to measure the parameters of processed materials and test the performance of the fabricated devices;

(d)    collect data, analyse and interpret test results; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader and co-investigators.

Qualifications

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a Master’s degree in Science or Engineering related discipline or a good honours degree in the abovementioned disciplines with at least three years’ experience in conduct research in nanoparticle synthesis, preferably in the development of plasmonic materials;

(b)    have hands-on experience in processing chemical materials; 

(c)    be familiarize with AI-related and microfluidic tools;

(d)    have hands-on skills and experience in building device and electronics for measurements and data acquisition;

(e)    have good communication skills; and

(f)     be a self-starter and capable to work independently.

Preference will be given to those with (i) experience in providing support on publication in fabrications of micro/nano structures, and (ii) a good command of English.
