The Department of Building and Real Estate is one of the constituent departments of the Faculty of Construction and Environment. The Department offers a full range of programmes leading to the awards of Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Philosophy, Master of Science and Bachelor of Science. It has an undergraduate student body of over 600 full-time students and a postgraduate student body of over 300. The Department currently has a total of 30 full-time academic / teaching staff, 20 technical and administrative staff and over 100 research personnel. The Department is looking for enthusiastic, established and suitably qualified person with a PhD degree to join the Department to take part in a number of teaching and research activities.

Duties 

The appointee will be required to: 

(a)    conduct research as the main duty and actively pursue external research grants, such as General Research Fund, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;  

(b)    provide quality teaching at undergraduate or postgraduate level; 

(c)    contribute to departmental service; 

(d)    contribute to the development and management of programmes and subjects relating to digital construction; and  

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

Qualifications 

Applicants should: 

(a)    have a PhD degree in Construction Management or a related discipline;  

(b)    have at least two years of postdoctoral research experience; 

(c)    have demonstrated promise of a high level of accomplishment in research and teaching in some subdivisions of his/her field;

(d)    have substantial experiences and strong publication records in construction management;

(e)    be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills; and 

(f)     be highly proficient in written and spoken English.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive package including a medical benefits plan and a gratuity payable upon completion of the term which is normally for two to three years initially, with possibility of extension.
