Offer Description
The candidate will conduct theoretical research on aspects of string theory, in collaboration with Michela Petrini. The project aims to study aspects of AdS/CFT duality in the context of Exceptional Geometry. One of the goals is to obtain new supergravity solutions dual to strongly coupled gauge theories in 4 dimensions. The other is to construct new coherent truncations in which to determine new solutions of interest for AdS/CFT duality.
1) Use and generalize recent results on consistent truncations with trombone symmetry to study dual supergravity solutions to certain flows of the Renormalization Group between strongly coupled gauge theories in 4 dimensions. 2) Study and exploit Exceptional Geometry to construct consistent truncations with non-Abelian gauge fields.
This position is part of Michela Petrini's international collaboration. The candidate will be in contact with other researchers in high-energy theoretical physics and string theory at LPTHE and in the Paris region who are working on related topics.

Eligibility criteria
The candidate must have a solid understanding of the different types of superstring models and associated supergravity theories. Knowledge of mathematical concepts useful for the project (differential geometry, exceptional geometry, gauge theory, AdS/CFT) and proficiency in formal calculation tools (Mathematica, Maple, Sage, etc.) will be particularly appreciated.
