Offer Description

- work environment: The DGIMI joint research unit “Diversity, Genomes & Microorganism-Insect Interactions” (INRAE-University of Montpellier joint research unit) brings together around thirty people and studies the interactions between crop-damaging lepidoptera and their environment, particularly their interactions with pathogens (viruses, bacteria, nematodes, parasitoids) and host plants.

- main mission: We are urgently seeking a highly motivated and independent Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct functional genomics analysis in insects. The successful candidate will conduct RNAi or CRISPR/Cas9 experiments in a lepidopteran species to investigate detoxification functions. The candidate may also perform crossing experiments to investigate the role of the detoxification gene. This position is located at UMR-DGIMI at the University of Montpellier, France.

- activities: The successful candidate will conduct gene knockout studies in a species of lepidopteran in order to study detoxification functions.

The net monthly salary is between €2,200 and €2,380

The contract duration is 14 months

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Experience in molecular experiments, preferably including CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing or RNAi in insects.
  • Strong English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • Background in evolutionary biology, entomology, genomics, or toxicology is an advantage.
