Are you passionate about research? So are we! Come and join us

The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is a Research and Technology Organization (RTO) active in the fields of materials, environment and IT. By transforming scientific knowledge into technologies, smart data and tools, LIST empowers citizens in their choices, public authorities in their decisions and businesses in their strategies.

Do you want to know more about LIST? Check our website: https://www.list.lu/

How will you contribute?

You will be contributing to the BESSER project and joining Dr. Jordi Cabot’s team (20+ members).

BESSER is aimed at building better smart software faster with a combination of low-code / model-driven and Artificial Intelligence techniques. As part of your work, you will be studying what abstractions and modeling perspectives are needed to facilitate the modeling of today’s hybrid and complex systems and how we can go from these specifications to the final running system.

As part of this discussion, you’ll also be evaluating in what parts of the process AI can be helpful and how to minimize the drawbacks of using AI. Not only in terms of the non-determinism but also in terms of the social impacts.

You will be working not only on the research aspects but also on their concrete implementation on top of the BESSER platform itself and on the empirical evaluation of the impact of your contributions.

A combination of software, modeling, AI, and empirical analysis techniques will be used.

You will be in charge of:

·          Extending the BESSER platform with new modeling perspectives and components

·          Develop hybrid software systems with BESSER to tackle the needs of industrial projects

·          Adapt BESSER to the needs of such projects

·          Empirically evaluating the quality and impact of BESSER compared to other software development processes (including vibe coding)

·          Ensuring the scalability and quality of the platform under different conditions

·          Study how BESSER can be adapted to facilitate responsible software development, e.g. embedding best practices in the code generators to ensure the final code is free from bias, is energy-efficient, …

·          Participating to research papers and materials presenting and promoting BESSER
