The Department of Business Administration at Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech) is seeking an accomplished and motivated academic leader to fill the position of Professor of Organisational Risk Management and Business Transformation.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The objective of the professorship is to advance high-level research and education in the field of organisational risk management and business transformation at Tallinn University of Technology, fostering synergy between strategic risk management, organisational learning, knowledge management, and organisational resilience. The professorship will provide research-based and systemic solutions to the complex challenges faced by contemporary organisations by integrating risk management, particularly system and technological risks arising from digital transformation and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), into overall organisational governance and business development.
The position may be filled as tenured or tenure track associate professor or full professor, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and career stage. The appointee will be expected to conduct research and teach in the field of organisational risk management and business transformation, with particular emphasis on how organisations manage complex risks in dynamic environments, including technological risks (such as automation, artificial intelligence applications, cybersecurity, and data governance), supply chain disruptions, sustainability transitions, and psychosocial risks. Organisational risk management is not viewed merely as a matter of compliance, but as a strategic, human-centred enabler that supports knowledge- and learning-based approaches as well as sustainable business development. In this context, risk management serves as a strategic tool that promotes responsible and human-centric business development while helping to prevent vulnerabilities in supply chains and work processes. The candidate is expected to participate in competitive research funding (including EU-funded projects), and to design, deliver, and continuously develop high-quality courses, as well as supervise and co-supervise students at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels and mentor early-stage researchers.
The professor is expected to lead the research and teaching in organisational risk management and business transformation within the Department of Business Administration and TalTech more broadly. This includes initiating and coordinating new research projects, developing international research collaboration networks (including with EuroTeQ partner universities), leading curriculum development and pedagogical innovation in the field, and strengthening TalTech’s internationally recognized expertise in organisational risk management and business transformation. The professor's role includes participation in national and international professional decision-making bodies and committees, collaboration with academic journals including peer reviewing, promotion and dissemination of the research field, and the consolidation, systematization, and further development of organisational risk management and business transformation related activities within the Department of Business Administration.

Specific Requirements
- A doctoral degree in a research field relevant to the position (e.g. management, business administration, risk management, or a closely related field).
- Research and/or academic work experience in a field relevant to organisational risk management and business transformation.
- Proven experience in research and development activities, including successful participation as a principal investigator or responsible project leader in competitive research projects.
- Proven ability to obtain research funding from national as well as international sources.
- A strong publication record and citation impact comparable to professors at reference universities in the same field.
- Experience in teaching at all levels, including supervision of Master theses.
- Successful supervision or co-supervision of one or more doctoral theses.
- High proficiency in both Estonian and English; for Estonian language proficiency, a performance agreement allowing up to two years to achieve the required level (C1) may be applied.
