Job Description
Are you passionate about data science and X-ray experiments? If so, this position might be perfect for you.
We are seeking a data scientist to advance our analysis of complex data from synchrotron experiments on deforming metals.
About Us
You will join an international and highly multidisciplinary team of approximately 5 PhDs and postdocs, fostering a strong collaboration between DTU Physics and DTU Construct. Our group is a global leader in the field of metals. We invented the synchrotron-based imaging technique Dark-Field X-ray Microscopy (DFXM) and previously 3D X-ray Diffraction Microscopy (3DXRD), installed at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility in France and also being implemented at other synchrotrons. We utilize the techniques to visualize the evolution of internal structures in metals during deformation - to understand how and why metals become strong and eventually break. We work with leading international groups on modeling and conduct simulations at DTU.
Responsibilities
You will
- be responsible for the development of algorithms and software for data analysis
- take part in planning of experiments at synchrotrons
- actively participate in experiments
Qualifications
Experience with
- complex X-ray diffraction techniques, preferably including either 3DXRD or DFXM.
- development of algorithms and software for analysis of such data
You can work independently and interact well with other group members using your methods.
A background in solid mechanics or materials science is an advantage.
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
We offer
DTU is a leading technical university globally recognized for the excellence of its research, education, innovation and scientific advice. We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international environment. We strive for academic excellence in an environment characterized by collegial respect and academic freedom tempered by responsibility.
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 2 years, preferably starting August 2026 or according to mutual agreement.
