The Institute for Development and International Relations, Zagreb, pursuant to Article 40 of the Law on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette: 119/2022) and Article 51 of the Institute’s Statute (Class: 007-02/23-01/01, Reg. No.: 251-768-08-23-4 of 16 September 2023), and in accordance with the Croatian Science Foundation’s call “Postdoctoral Research Projects (PDIP-2026)”, hereby announces a

PUBLIC CALL

for the selection to two associate positions of Senior Assistant, within the framework of the Institute’s participation in the Croatian Science Foundation’s call “Postdoctoral Research Projects (PDIP-2026)”, https://hrzz.hr/prijava/otvoreni-natjecaji/

• Senior Assistant in the scientific field of social sciences, area of information and communication sciences (cultural studies), at the Department for Culture and Communication,
• Senior Assistant in the scientific field of social sciences, area of sociology, at the Department for International Economic and Political Relations.

The employment contract is concluded for a fixed term of two years, with the possibility of a 6-month probation period. The applicant may be employed only if their project is approved for funding by the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) and if the conditions prescribed by this call and the Law on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette 119/2022) are met.

Requirements:

In accordance with the PDIP-2026 call conditions, the applicant:

• must hold a doctoral degree obtained no more than five years before the application deadline for PDIP-2026 (with possible extension in line with HRZZ rules),
• must have an ORCID identifier,
• must propose a postdoctoral research project within the scope of the Department’s activities and an accompanying financial plan to be submitted to the PDIP-2026 call,
• must have excellent knowledge of English.

Applicants must submit:

• an application stating personal information (name, address, phone number, and email), as well as the job title and Department applying for,
• a curriculum vitae (description of previous work),
• a bibliography of scientific and professional publications,
• proof of required education (copy of diploma, etc.),
• proof of a doctoral degree obtained no more than five years before the PDIP-2026 application deadline,
• application form and financial plan for the proposed two-year research project within the Department’s scope, intended for submission to PDIP-2026, signed by the Institute’s Director,
• proof of English language proficiency (certificates, diplomas, publications in a foreign language, etc.),
• electronic record or certificate with data registered in the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute database,
• applicants who have previously been employed as Senior Assistants must provide copies of previous employment contracts or a certificate from the employer stating the period during which they performed Senior Assistant duties.

This call has been published in the Official Gazette, on the official European Research Area job portal, and on the websites of the Institute and the Croatian Employment Service.
