TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

This Call for Applications is taking place in the framework of the PMF’s participation in the Postdoctoral Research Projects (PDIP-2026) programme (hereinafter: PDIP-2026) of the Croatian Science Foundation (hereinafter: HRZZ).

Project proposals submitted by the applicants will be evaluated by a committee of experts. The best applicants selected by the committee will have an opportunity to apply for support under the PDIP-2026 programme. The applicants whose project proposals receive a positive assessment and funding under the HRZZ programme, will be offered an employment position. 

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

The applicants under point 5 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:         

- to hold a doctoral degree in natural science, the field of physics

In accordance with the terms and conditions of PDIP-2026, for all points of the Call the applicants must 

satisfy the following conditions: 

• a PhD in science obtained no more than 5 years before the PDIP-2026 application deadline (seven years with extensions allowed for maternity or parental leave (18 months for mothers or the length of paternal leave for fathers), long-term illness or clinical treatment and, for applicants with specialisation, the time spent in postdoctoral specialisation).
• must hold an ORCID identifier; and
• must submit a project proposal to apply for support under the PDIP-2026 programme.   

Under all points of the Call the applicants must submit the following: 

• a CV indicating if the applicant has ever held the position of senior assistant;
• a proof of citizenship;
• a proof of academic qualifications;
• supporting documents for eligible extensions
• electronic record of employment status;
• the application form and the financial plan accompanying the project proposal for funding under the PDIP-2026 programme. The duly completed application form should be submitted without the signature of the head of the applicant’s institution. In the financial plan, in the indirect costs category (A5), applicants should plan for the maximum permissible percentage of 15% of the requested funding for categories A2-A4, and the total sum (A2-A5) must not exceed 100.000 euros;
• depending on the nature of the project, a research ethics clearance as additional documentation supporting the application under the PDIP-2026 programme. 

For points 1), 2), 6) and 7)  of the Call, foreign nationals must provide a proof of Croatian language proficiency. 

The applicants who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and achieve the top score in the selection procedures.

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, and there shall be no subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications. 

For all points of the Call, the assessment of the applicants may take the form of an interview. 

The applicants will receive an e-mail advising them of the time and place of the interview. Any applicant who fails to attend the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

The closing date for submission of applications for all points of the Call is 30 days after publication of the Call in the Official Gazette. 

The results of the Call will be published on the official website of the PMF: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Calls for Applications).
