The expected pay range for this position is $90,000 - $122,000 annually.
This Research Associate will take on the role of project lead for ongoing proof-of-concept technology development with industrial contract research partners. The successful applicant’s responsibilities include:
Research and Discovery – The candidate will need to carry out experimental development of new automated analytical hardware in the synthesis of novel chemical materials. This will require a demonstrated potential of establishing a successful research program.
Data science – The project requires significant integration with computer science colleagues, curation of large data sets and data visualization. The candidate should have experience with programming and data manipulation in Python. Experience programming and training convolutional neural networks for computer vision applications is mandatory
Technical writing – The candidate will be responsible for creating reports in collaboration with the research team. This may also include preparation of grant proposals for submission to national and international granting agencies. Exceptional communication and writing skills with a demonstrated ability to create these documents are required.
Project management for experimental science – The candidate will be responsible for working with the Principal Investigator and research team to design and guide day to day research activities to meet project milestones for time-sensitive proof of concept project. The candidate should have a proven record of technical program management and a strong record of research productivity commensurate with their experience.
Qualifications: A recent PhD in Chemistry/Chemical Science with experience in laboratory automation, with relevant research experience.
