Offer Description
The CCARBON Atmosphere module is dedicated to developing and applying process-based models for major Brazilian agricultural crops. The primary objective is to simulate the impact of climate change, such as rising temperatures and altered rainfall patterns, on the yield, yield components and sustainability of these crops.
Through these simulations, researchers can identify the risks and vulnerabilities of production chains and propose adaptation strategies. This includes evaluating different management practices, developing new, more resilient cultivars, and exploring more efficient agricultural systems, with the ultimate goal of ensuring food security and the resilience of tropical agriculture in a constantly changing climate scenario.
The selected candidate will join the Center for Research on Carbon in Tropical Agriculture (CCARBON), a Research, Innovation and Dissemination Center (RIDC) supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and hosted by the University of São Paulo's Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ-USP) in Piracicaba, state of São Paulo, Brazil.
This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly related to the research activity.
