YOUR TASKS
- In the context of preparing for spin-off creation, you are responsible for:
- defining the value proposition, the market need in consultation with key opinion leaders, the competitive landscape, and market size.
- developing the full business plan, including the financial plan and the go-to-market strategy.
- evaluating and expanding the technological know-how and intellectual property, including the transfer/licensing strategy for contribution to the start-up.
- making the spin-off investment-ready, including drafting the pitch deck and conducting outreach to investors.
- building and coaching the start-up team and identifying/defining the future roles/profiles.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Preferably a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Biochemistry/Biotechnology, or a related discipline, or demonstrable experience in technology development within these sectors.
- Proven experience as a founder or co-founder of a technology company, preferably in the chemical, pharmaceutical, or biomedical sector.
- A strong track record in an entrepreneurial role, with demonstrated success in setting up, financing, and scaling a spin-off/start-up.
- Solid knowledge of IP strategies, business models, and commercialization of technologies in the broader healthcare field.
- Experience in raising funding (seed, venture capital, grants such as VLAIO or EU funding).
- A network in the chemical industry and/or investment world is an asset.
- Entrepreneurial, strategic thinker, results-driven, with strong hands-on operational skills.
- Strong communication skills (English required, Dutch recommended).
- Coaching mindset: able to guide researchers through the valorization process.
- Able to work independently, while being a strong team player alongside academics and TechTransfer professionals.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- We offer you a contract of definite duration for the period of 7 months
- Your contract will start on 1/03/2026 at the earliest.
- Your remuneration will be determined by salary scale PD1 to PD4 (if you hold a doctorate). Click here for more information about our salary scales .
