Offer Description

A 3-year postdoctoral position is available from May 2026 in an Austrian Science Fund (FWF)-funded project in the laboratory of DDr. Reinhold G. Erben at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Osteology in Vienna, Austria.

The project employs a combination of in vivo studies using different transgenic mouse models with in vitro cell and tissue culture approaches to better understand the regulation of fibroblast growth factor-23 (FGF23) secretion in bone and the pathophysiological sequelae of FGF23 excess in renal disease

The postdoctoral scientist will be working in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, involving three centers in Austria and Germany, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and outstanding opportunities for international networking and career development. Candidates should hold a MD, DVM, or PhD degree, and should have interest in the bone-kidney axis and in spatial biology. Experience with mouse models is desirable. Approaches used include animal studies, spatial transcriptomics and metabolomics, proteomics, ChIP-Seq, µ-CT, immunohistology, histomorphometry, cell culture, and tissue culture.
