About the opportunity
The Structural Biology Lab Manager provides senior‑level research support leadership within a research‑intensive environment, enabling high‑quality outcomes aligned with strategic objectives. Working under broad direction, the role partners closely with academic leaders to support research funding, data governance, compliance, and people leadership, contributing to a culture of research excellence.
Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work closely with the Professor and research stakeholders to manage and direct research support operations

  • coordinate and support research funding activities, including grant application processes and funding diversification

  • oversee research data management, analysis and reporting to inform strategic and operational decisions

  • manage administrative, reporting and compliance requirements across research documentation and publications

  • lead stakeholder engagement and foster productive internal and external research partnerships

  • oversee resource management, including budgets, staffing and research infrastructure


About you

  • postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience

  • demonstrated hands-on experience across the breadth of workflows used in the laboratories, which range from CRISPR-based genome modification, mammalian cell culture through to protein biochemistry and structural biology (NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography)

  • demonstrated experience leading research administration in a research‑intensive or higher education environment

  • demonstrated experience in liaising with institutional technical support services to

  • experience coordinating and supporting competitive research grant applications

  • experience managing research data, reporting and dissemination

  • proven people management experience

  • strong knowledge of research compliance, governance and operational risk management.
