Based at the Melbourne CBD campus, and hybrid ways of working
About the Role
Property Services Group (PSG) is responsible for operating and enhancing a property portfolio across RMIT’s campuses. We manage more than 100 buildings and deliver services that keep the University running.
We are seeking a capable, pragmatic Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day business operations function within PSG.
This is not a narrow specialist role. We are looking for a true generalist — someone who can move across planning, people leadership, systems, administration and operational delivery with confidence.
You will work closely with the Director, Business Operations and lead a team of Operations Officers who support senior leaders across PSG. The focus is simple: ensure operations run smoothly, efficiently and professionally, every day
What This Role Is Really About
This role suits someone who:
Is organised and plans ahead — not reactive.
Sets a high standard for customer service.
Can prioritise multiple demands without losing focus.
Communicates clearly and concisely.
Solves problems independently.
Cuts through noise and distractions to deliver outcomes.
Rolls up their sleeves when needed.
You will be responsible for improving processes, managing operational budgets, coordinating planning cycles, and ensuring consistent, high-quality support across the Group
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of Operations Officers.
Drive operational planning and coordination across PSG.
Manage the business operations budget and reporting processes.
Improve systems and processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
Support the Strategic Leadership Team to translate strategy into action.
Ensure compliance with University policies and quality standards
This role is outcome-driven. It’s about delivery, not meetings.
What We’re Looking For
Proven success in an operations management role.
Strong budget development and financial oversight capability.
Experience leading teams in large, complex organisations.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication.
A customer-focused mindset with the ability to influence when required.
Confidence to make decisions and stand by them.
