The Event Officer works collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to deliver high-quality events, engagement and outreach initiatives that advance RMIT Europe’s strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include liaising with, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders to understand event and engagement requirements, ensuring initiatives meet objectives and stakeholder needs. The role also involves building relationships with networks and partners, coordinating suppliers and vendors, developing and implementing event plans, and preparing reports and recommendations to enhance event outcomes.
In addition to previous experience in events, engagement and outreach initiatives, this role requires a hands-on approach, a positive ‘can do’ attitude, the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. Impeccable stakeholder management skills, critical thinking and creative problem solving are also essential.
What will you be accountable for?
Identify and develop strategic events, engagement and outreach initiatives that contribute to achieving RMIT Europe’s research, industry, education and student objectives and contribution to RMIT’s Knowledge with Action.
Activate and maintain strategic external relationships with partners and networks.
Brief and direct suppliers and vendors as needed, including venues, caterers, AV providers, photographers and other services as required.
Write and publish event content on RMIT and other channels to continually develop RMIT Europe’s digital presence, in line with RMIT’s web and digital publishing strategy, protocol and standards.
Conduct post-event analysis, reporting, tracking of leads and ensuring timely follow-up conversion activity with other members of RMIT Europe or other RMIT stakeholders.
Collaborate with Engagement team members to develop communication and marketing plans to support events, engagement and outreach activity.
Prepare regular reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders, translating data insights into recommendations that enhance future planning and engagement activity.
Other tasks as directed by the Communications and Engagement Manager.

Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, partners and networks.
High-level project management skills and experience in planning, producing and delivering well-managed events, engagement and outreach initiatives.
Ability to prioritise workload in a high-volume, changing environment and work autonomously while contributing to team goals.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative and creative solutions.
Proven understanding of best practice in events, engagement and outreach initiatives across planning, delivery and evaluation stages that contribute to organisational objectives.
High-level proficiency in English and Spanish.
