Job Summary

Analyzes applicant financial aid information, selects candidates, and determines awarded financial aid. Assists in financial aid policy preparation and in applications for government loan program federal funds. Conducts applicant interviews and administers assigned financial aid programs.


Essential Functions 

The Financial Aid Counselor provides students and their families with financial aid-related services through activities including but not limited to giving presentations, counseling students about the financial aid process, awarding various aid programs, and educating students about the importance of good financial management. These initiatives will contribute to safeguarding the University in the area of compliance with financial aid related regulations.


Physical Effort 

Most work is sedentary, completed within an office setting. Some counseling/presenting is performed at other campuses and off-campus sites. Employee must be able to move about the campus to meetings and travel to locations outside of the University of Pittsburgh.
