A scholarship of up to £2,000 paid to students who are undertaking their first approved study abroad Programme at the University of Greenwich. The bursary amount depends on the destination, length, and type of study abroad programme, as well as the eligibility criteria met by the students.
Eligibility Criteria
Students must fill out an additional Global Greenwich Bursary application form to be eligible for it.
Undergraduate home students meeting at least one of the criteria below are eligible to apply for the bursary:
- Student with an annual household income below £35,000
- Students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits because they are financially supporting themselves and someone who is dependent and living with them
- BAME student
- Care leaver or care-experienced student
- Student with caring responsibilities
- Estranged students
- Refugees and asylum seeker
- Disabled students
Assessment/Awarding Process
- The number of bursaries is capped at 20 for term or year abroad opportunities, and 150 for summer programme opportunities. Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria who wish to receive the bursary must make an application.
- All awards are allocated on a first come first serve basis and based on the eligibility criteria; students from disadvantaged backgrounds will be prioritised. Once all 170 awards have been made the fund will close.
- Term or year abroad – open in the summer for a September and January start. Eligible for Undergraduate Home students only. Priority given to students going to expensive destinations such as the USA and Japan.
- Summer programme – open in December for following summer. Eligible for Undergraduate Home students only..
