Offer Description

Grant/funding reference: PLEC2024−011174

Job title: CASANDRA: driving the adoption of data flows in the supply chain by integrating intelligent and decentralized control for the manufacturing of large components

Research line / Scientific−technical services: Artificial Intelligence.

TASKS TO PERFORM

  • Research and develop in Artificial Intelligence (AI) models that allow the detection of anomalies in the manufacturing process of unique industrial components. Different alternatives will be explored and analyzed, in the field of machine learning, that allow relevant information to be extracted from the data.
    • Research and develop AI models that allow the detection of possible defects in the process of sheet metal forming and roughing of weld seams.
    • Develop and apply explainable AI models that support workers' decisions based on the data available in the project's use cases.
    • Investigate the development and application of distributed/federated learning models for their possible application in edge computing (edge intelligence).
    • Investigate the application of frugal Artificial Intelligence and active learning models that allow the development of intelligent models that require the use of limited computational resources and with moderate amounts of data.
    • Evaluate and validate the performance of AI models with real data collected for project use cases.
    • Integrate the developed models into the software product generated as a result of the project.

The hired researcher will help develop, implement and evaluate new machine learning methods in these areas.
