Offer Description
“VALENCE ASYMMETRIES: The positive, the negative, the good and the bad in language, mind and morality” is an interdisciplinary project that seeks to understand the mechanisms that underlie the asymmetries between the positive and the negative across disciplines. The successful candidate will carry out predoctoral research and will produce a doctoral thesis that engages with the tasks from the Work Package 2 (Valence asymmetries in linguistic communication and interpretation) and/or Work Package 4 (Valence Reversals) (for further information, see https://www.upf.edu/web/valence-asymmetries/work-packages ). Their research will be supervised by Professors Isidora Stojanovic (Project PI) and Laia Mayol (Associate Professor, UPF). Their area of specialisation will be formal semantics and pragmatics, and they will seek to develop skills in experimental methods.
The PhD contract is fully funded (18.180,48€ gross yearly salary) and will start on the 1st of July 2025, for a maximum duration of four years. Further inquiries regarding this call may be addressed to valence.asymmetries@upf.edu .
