Offer Description

Project title: Reduce order modelling and design optimization of robot manufacturing and motility

The consortium: GREENS  ( A Training Programme on 5R's implementation in the design, manufacturing and application of micro and nanorobotic platforms) project is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Training Network that offers the possibility to pursue a PhD within the Network at different universities/research centres/companies across Europe. The duration of the appointment is 3 years, starting in June 2025, and the gross salary is 2500 € / year plus family allowance if eligible.

Objectives(1) Optimization of Microfluidic Crystallization: Develop computational models to optimize the crystallization process in microfluidics, enhancing the quality and efficiency of crystal structures used in microrobots. (2) Microrobot Motility in Complex Environments: Create advanced models to simulate and optimize the movement of microrobots within intricate and dynamic environments.

Expected results(1) Enhanced Crystallization Process: Achieve significant improvements in the microfluidic crystallization process, leading to more efficient and effective crystal formation for microrobot components. (2) Optimized Microrobot Mobility: Develop advanced simulation models that significantly enhance the understanding and control of microrobot motility in various environmental conditions.

The candidate will join the Fluid Dynamics Technology group (https://i3a.unizar.es/en/grupos-de-investigacion/tfd ) at the Aragon Institute for Engineering Research  (I3A) (https://i3a.unizar.es/en/institute ). Currently, the I3A has more than 30 groups divided into the four strategic divisions of the Institute: Biomedical Engineering, Technologies for the Knowledge Society, Industrial Technologies and Processes, and Recycling. The I3A is part of the University of Zaragoza (UNIZAR), which is a public university and the major research and higher education institution in the Spanish region of Aragón.  Founded in 1542, it is one of the oldest universities in Spain. Its main mission is to generate and transmit knowledge with the objective of the integral formation of people. UNIZAR is positioned in the top 200 world-leading institutions in Material Science and in Chemistry according to the Shanghai ranking.
