Research Studentships (for PhD students)
Applications are open for one Research Studentship (for PhD students) in the area of Structural and Computational Mechanics, financed by IDMEC funds, under the following conditions:
Scientific Area: Structural and Computational Mechanics (ACMEC)
Admission Requirements: To be enrolled at a PhD, or declaration of honor in which undertakes to be enrolled until the grant's contract is done.
Workplan and the objectives to achieve:
- Study the dynamic behaviour sensitivity of road vehicles to structural changes in the Body-in-White design, focusing on the impact of new materials and structural joints.
- Study, compare, and develop efficient methods to deal with flexibility in multibody dynamics simulations, focusing on reference conditions and selection of mode shapes.
- Structure a new Road Vehicle Dynamics Course to be implemented in IST.
Legislation and Regulations: Statute of Scientific Research Fellow, approved by Law nr. 40/2004, of August 18, as worded by Decree-Law nr. 123/2019, of August 28; IDMEC Regulation for Research Studentships and Fellowships, available on https://www.idmec.tecnico.ulisboa.pt/
Workplace: The work will be developed at IDMEC - Institute of Mechanical Engineering, being both the Host and Contracting Entity, and under the scientific supervision of Professor Jorge Ambrósio
Duration: The research fellowship will have the duration of 6 months. It’s expected to begin in April 2025, and may be eventually renewed up to the maximum stated by the law or the end of the project.
Monthly maintenance allowance: The amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is € 1 309,64, being the payment method by Wire Transfer.
Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following: Curriculum evaluation (60%), motivation letter (20%), publications in peer-reviewed international journals (20%), with a maximum score of 20 points for each evaluation item.
Composition of the selection Jury: Jorge Ambrósio (President), António Andrade, Virginia Infante.
Selection minutes: Brief minutes of the jury meetings will be drawn up, indicating the names and affiliation of the jury members, the names of the excluded and admitted candidates, the criteria and respective assessment by candidate, ranking of candidates, and all decisions must have clear and sufficient grounds. The minutes must be accompanied by declarations of conflict of interest (CDI) of all members of the jury.
Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by email.
After be notified, candidates have 10 working days to submit a formal rebuttal, by email.
Application deadline and formalization: The call is open in the period between February 28 and March 14, until 18:00, 2025.
