About This Bursary

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) Women in Engineering Bursaries form part of TMR’s ongoing commitment to increase the number of women in the traditionally male dominated engineering profession.

First presented in 2018, these bursaries aim to promote continued female engagement with and graduation from tertiary engineering courses, ensuring a strong pipeline of qualified female engineers for today’s contemporary workforce.

In 2024, the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is offering a bursary for a student enrolled in a university located in South East Queensland , and a bursary for a student enrolled in a university located in Regional Queensland.

The value of the bursary is $2,000.
