About this scholarship
The Postgraduate Merit Scholarship supports passionate and high achieving students who are commencing postgraduate studies at Curtin University.

The Postgraduate Merit Scholarship will provide the following support for the expected duration of the postgraduate course (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):
- An annual value of $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester.
The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.

If your course does not appear on this list, you are not eligible to apply.
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Merit Scholarship:
- Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
- Commencing an eligible course in Semester 1, 2025. You will be ineligible to apply if you have any credits completed towards your course (this excludes Credit For Recognised Learning)
- Commencing studies in first available study period
- Have a minimum CWA of at least 65 for most recent course of study (at Curtin University), or equivalent if most recent course of study has been at a different educational institution
- Demonstrated passion for postgraduate discipline
Application process
Step 1: Access online application form
- Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all scholarships (equity and merit) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete).
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process
- Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Receipt of an offer of a place into an eligible postgraduate course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2025
- Responses to questions in application form
- CWA from previous course of study
- Demonstrated passion for postgraduate discipline
Step 6: Outcome
- Outcome will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account after main round domestic course offers (all unsuccessful and successful applicants will be notified).
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept scholarship conditions by the specified deadline
- Deferral of this scholarship is not permitted
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
- Scholarship is not transferable to another course or university
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Remain enrolled in an eligible course of study
- Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65 each study period
